Let Us Not Forget
This week we observe Remembrance Day and together with Canadians all though the land, we will stand and remember all those who gave their lives for our freedom. It is a day to reach out to God in prayer for the families of soldiers who died and for those who returned and continue to suffer the agonies of the war in which they fought. We thank God for our freedom and pray for peace throughout the world, the peace only God can give. Every year on Remembrance Day, this song, written by Sy Miller and Jill Jackson Miller (1955) comes to mind, reminding me that God uses you and I to be agents of His peace:
Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth, the peace that was meant to be.
With God as our Father, brothers all are we.
Let me walk with my brother in perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me, let this be the moment now.
With every step I take let this be my solemn vow.
To take each moment and live each moment, with peace eternally.
Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.
