We trust you all have had a restful Christmas break and that your family’s first week back into the school routine has gone smoothly. 

This is an exciting time of year!  Welcoming in a new year often involves much reflection and anticipation. We can reflect back on God’s goodness to us in the past year and we can  look forward to what he may have in store for us in the future upcoming year.   I am reminded of Abraham who looked to the future and had no idea what it held. However, he obeyed God and commenced a long journey that would disrupt all he and his family knew. He obeyed, even though he had no idea what God’s plans entailed. His obedience is noted in what is often referred to as the “Faith Hall of Fame” in Hebrews 11.  

8 By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. 9 By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country…

May we, like Abraham, seek to walk in obedience this year, wherever the Lord may lead us. As a result, may we come to know and appreciate His sovereignty a little better, and experience His blessings as a result.
